So when we did our family pictures with Becca, we knew it was going to rain so she suggested that I get him rain boots to use for some of the pictures. When I first got them he refused to wear them. I let it go and left them in his room hopping he would warm up to them in his own time. One morning he came running my room yelling "look at my frog hockey skates" and he has loved them since. I don't know how or why he came up with the idea that his rain boots are hockey skates but, he loves them. Now he is also revolting against clothes. So, when we are home he is naked most of the day...except for his frog stakes.

So I have been stinking at this whole blog thing lately. Not because we have been super busy and I don't have time, I just haven't felt like blogging and I have been a slacker with my camera. However we have been staying some what busy. We have been enjoying this warm weather and have been spending a lot of time at our neighborhood pool, playing in the back yard and just any fun activity we can do outside. We are also trying to plan a family vacation to Washington and Los Angeles in August and we really hope everything works for that. So that is the Garrett family update in nut shell.

Anyways, a few months ago our friend Becca of Rebecca Martinez Photography was visiting Alabama (she lives in FL) and was gracious and did a family session with us. She also did John and my wedding 6 years ago so it was great that she could our family pictures. This was our second attempt to do family pictures, the first session the previous month rained out and this one was also VERY close to being rained out and would have been if I wasn't so stubborn. We did them at Sloss Furnace in Downtown Birmingham. We were only able to last outside for about 20 minutes because it started purring rain and the temperature dropped unexpectedly and it was freezing. So this is what we were able to get in that short time. Over all I am very pleased with them. If you are in need a great photographer and are in the Tampa area she is amazing!

Big Boy room in progress...

I started redoing Jax's room last month. It is of course it is all hockey, mostly LA Kings. He loves it. I still want to get new furniture but I have not found anything yet.

We had this picture done of Jax at Downtown Disney this past Christmas.

These letter were originally white when they were in Jax's newborn nursery. Then baby blue and brown for his toddler room. Now they are dark purple, black and silver, LA Kings colors.

His big boy bed. Thank you Aunt Nicole and Uncle Jason for the LA Kings blanket, it is perfect! The pictures above the bed are actually picture we bought on our honeymoon 6 years ago, who knew they would have ended up our son's room.
I have since replaced the lamp shade with a black one. It is coming together slowly...

It has been crazy here in the Garrett house. John has been working on a merger with his company so he has been working like a mad man. So that gives Jax and I lot of quality time. We have been outside as much as casper's skin can handle. We should buy stock in sunscreen we have already gone through 1 1/2 cans (in about month) and with no end in sight we could probably get a nice return on our money. Our neighborhood pool opens today we won't make it down there today but we will be there next week! Jax is such a water kid as I think most kids are at this age. Anything outside and then when you add water it is like Christmas morning. I also introduced him to watermelon this week and to say he loves it is an understatement. I am not sure if it is the flavor he like or they way he eats it, maybe both. I hand him a big chunk of it and watch him go to town!

Jax has his first little best friend and they are so cute together...well most of the time. They are becoming more like brother and sister and they fight like it sometimes...then they have these sweet moments together just like brother and sister. They are great little friends. She keeps in his place by "mothering" him and she is girly yet is ok getting dirty. She is such a sweet little girl and he loves her. His whole face lights up when he sees her. She is his best friend..."Aya".

Pool and Projects...

About a month ago Jax and I bought 3 little planters. (However as you can see in the first picture there are only two. He dropped one the day after we painted it.) We brought them home and painted them. We then took a trip to Wal-Mart, I let him pick out some flower seeds and we got some soil and went home to plant them. Also while we were there we got a strawberry plant. Now I have a "black thumb". I have killed literally every plant I have ever had. My poor husband has bought me 2 separate orchid plants and both have died. So I really stink at gardening, but I really wanted to try and grow something with Jax this spring/summer. So far so good. We have gotten 2 strawberries off our little plant and our African Daises are sprouting. We will see how long they all live before the inevitable happens....I kill them.

A few weeks ago I could no longer resist, I had to let him swim and do water play. The water was so cold, it only slowed him down a little. Since then we have not gotten the pool out again, but we have played in the sprinkler and water buckets.

The Zoo with MiMi

Jax and I picked up my mom at the airport on Thursday and we headed to the zoo. Jax had so much fun and so did Mimi and I.

We fed the birds. Then I sat in the "juice" that you feed them, someone spilled some the bench, and I had a yellow line on the back of my shorts the rest of the day.

This gorilla was amazing! He sat there like he was posing, while everyone stared and took pictures, it was so neat. Jax was yelling, "gorilla mommy, gorilla, oOOooOO. (that is what a gorilla says.)
There was this mean and wild much older boy also playing in the fountains and he knocked Jax over and literally rolled over on top of him. Then did it to 2 other little boys. And the boys parents were no where to be found. It took everything inside to not grab that child and make him take me to his parents.

We have been staying busy here in the Garrett house. Jax is such an active boy. Always wanting to do something and anything. Which is making me grateful for my days as a daycare teacher. Because as he gets older I am able to do more fun and creative things with him that I learned as a teacher. Although play-dough is nothing original or exciting to most, he loved it. This was the first time we did it together. He got a play-dough set for Christmas and I just never got it out. The one time he did it with my mom he tried to eat it, so I wanted to make sure he would not eat it again. Well he didn't try to eat it and he loved it so it was a great activity for both of us to to be a little creative.

Milestones..

So we are coming up on MAJOR milestones as my little boy is getting bigger. He is now in a big boy bed, or as he calls it his big boy hockey bed. He seems to be rolling with the change where I am struggling. I took his apart his crib this morning and became teary eyed as I remembered watching them set it up, for the first time, while I sat and watched in amazement, with my huge belly. I remember thinking so vividly on that day that a big boy bed was so far away, well not anymore. I had so many questions about the boy I was carrying inside me on that day and now some are answered and some remain. I can't wait to see him continue to grow. He truly is such an amazing little boy. Next potty training...

Jax is so funny! He has been all about pillows and blankets lately. He has just started carrying a blanket and his big (M)Ickey Mouse around (He calls it Ickey). One of his favorite things to do is pretend to sleep. He "snores" and breaths heavy to sound like he is sleeping. However when he "snores" he sounds like he is hacking up a hair ball. It is hilarious!

This is one of his favorite books. Well he loves this whole series of books. He goes thru the whole book does all the animal sounds or he points out the letters.

This weather is LONG over due! This has been a long and cold winter but I think Spring has sprung. The forecast calls for 70's and sunshine all week and we are taking advantage. Jax and I have been outside as much as possible. I even talked with my neighbor and the kiddie pool maybe in our near future, probably Friday when it will be in the 80's. Well today we played outside all morning then took a nap and after went for a walk to feed our neighborhood ducks and then played in the backyard. I am so grateful to live in a great neighborhood. Wish it was closer to Homewood but none the less, I love it.

These pictures are from our walk today by the "lake". There is a small wooded area and he being the little boy that he is had to go find sticks and hit the trees. Also he was shockingly co-operative and posed for one of the pictures. He typically hates taking pictures.

Bowling...

We had a great time today bowling. Jax LOVED it! He has been playing a bowling game on John's iPhone for weeks and has really been into bowling. The minute we walked into the bowling ally he was sucked in. It was great! I love watching him experience new things.

As Jax gets older he is more like John everyday. His looks, his mannerisms, his interests. It is not an exaggeration when I say, I think I cloned John. Jaxon loves, well that is an understatement, his obsession with anything and everything hockey, Jax is a technology nerd already able to navigate to his favorite websites all on his own and his love for all things Apple. What 2 years gets out of bed and says, "Mommy I want to go to the Apple store." John's 2 year old does. I often wonder where John's genes end and mine start because I don't think he got much of anything from me (except my clumsiness). But as he gets older we realize more and more what an amazing kid he is and how lucky we are to be his parents.

Today was the first day we have been able to play in the backyard and it was great! The weather was perfect. We put together some of Jax's outside toys that he got for Christmas and we also got to play with his new power wheels that Jax's cousin Jason gave him. He loves it!

Jax and I had so much fun this afternoon playing in the snow! He would have never come in this house. I am so glad we a decent amount, we ended up with about 2-2 1/2 inches. It was gorgeous!

Catching up & Starting over

So things have been really busy and great since Christmas. I am going to give this blogging thing another try. I took a break for awhile...but here we go. A big development in our life is that my sweet baby Caroline and her family will be moving. Her daddy got a new job and will be based out of Louisiana now. So once their house sells they will be moving. We were so sad about this news, but he has to work and that were the work is. Jax will miss her so much. She is very much like his little sister. He is so sweet and loving to her. Lets us know he is going to be a great big brother.

These are from a play place here called Pump it Up. It was a lot of fun and it wore the kids out! Jax had so much fun and he didn't want to leave this one blow up. It had hoops on both sides and he ran back and forth. He was too little to make it in the hoop, but he tried over and over. He yelled, "he scored" after every shot even though he never made it. He has such "spirit".

Jax has been keeping us busy. He has discovered a LOVE for sweets. He loves cookies and cupcakes. He randomly will ask for them throughout the day. So we have been baking a lot lately. So we baked cupcakes a few weeks ago and we went a little over bored. I ended up making about 46 cupcakes.

We have been very busy around here lately. We are so excited that Christmas is Friday. Jaxon has gotten really into the Christmas season. He loves talking about Santa, looking at lights and Christmas trees. He also loves watching Christmas movies. He keeps pointing at the trees under the tree and says, "Santa bring, Santa bring." I love him so much, I love the Christmas season so much more now with him in our lives. We are so lucky and blessed to have him.

We had the neighbors, Paul, Amy and Ava, over about 2 weeks ago to decorate Christmas cookies. Ava and Jax had a lot of fun. It was neat seeing how different they decorated them. Jax had sprinkles everywhere, all over the table all over his clothes, just everywhere. Ava barely had a mess. Ava was very precise and Jax was not! They put so much icing on some of them that we were not sure if they suitable for human consumption. lol! However we ate them and they were good and the kids had fun!

I am so excited about Christmas this year. It was so much fun to decorate the house and to start putting presents under the tree. John and I can't wait to see Jax on Christmas morning. Jax is getting a bunch of art stuff, books, movies, a new hockey set, a huge remote control dinosaur, a play doh set and a crayola glow in the dark color tablet. John is so excited about the hockey set and the dinosaur. Jax has become quiet the little hockey player so he is ready for new set. Then we are heading to FL the morning after Christmas to see my mom and family.

Yesterday was the perfect fall day. So I took Jax and Caroline for a walk down to the "lake". There were 2 white ducks and Jax was so excited to them. The last time we went down there none of the ducks would come over. The whole time we were down there he was yelling "ducks ducks, I see ducks momma!" We fed them some bread and Jax helped himself to some bread. It was a great little outing!

As Jaxon is getting older he is more and more like his daddy! Not only in his looks but his interests. He loves technology, computers and John's iPhone are his favorite. He also LOVES hockey!! He begs to watch hockey and he plays it all day long. He just loves it! He is actually really good for a 2 year old.

There are 2 blog entries here this time. The first set of pictures are Jax and Daddy sharing some of the Halloween candy. Jax has officially discovered candy and he LOVES it! Chocolate it his favorite...Just like his mommy.

These are from this evening at the park in Mt. Laurel with our neighbors, Amy and Ava. It has been so nice to have another mom I can call, hang with and go places with. I really needed it! Not to mention her little girl is so cute, so sweet and Jax absolutely loves her. Amy was going to take pictures of Jax tonight but as usual he was uncooperative...he hates having his picture taken. These are some I got from my camera, the trees are so gorgeous. I love this time of year.

Trick or Treat...

We went Trick or treating last night in our neighborhood. It was so great to see all the kids dressed up...well all the kids except mine. Jaxon refused to wear his costume. He was supposed to be a T-Rex. I was so disappointed, but we had fun anyways trick or treating with the neighbors and their little girl. Ava was so cute dressed up as a pirate princess. They trick or treated for about an hour and they did so good. They ran to each house Ava would say trick or treat for them and they would get their goodies and on to the next house. It was so much fun watching them.

This is the only picture I have of Jax in what was suppose to be his costume. I took him to Sears for a quickie photo shoot. This is a picture of a picture so it is horrible. But the scanner would not work.

This is the third pumpkin we (I) did because our other 2 died before it was Halloween so I did another one so we would have one for Halloween.

Halloween...So Far...

Last week we bought our pumpkins and carved them. We wanted to go to the pumpkin patch but between the rain and us worried about John's back on the hay ride we figured it would be better to sit this Halloween out. We bought our pumpkins at the store and came home to carve them and Jax want NOTHING to do with it! He took one look at the guts and said, "ewww". I sat some next to him in hopes that he would touch and then he would want to participate. No luck. he touched it with the tip of his finger and starting screaming "ewww" and made me wipe it and didn't come near us the rest of the time. So, John and I had fun carving the pumpkins and Tony baked the seeds. Over all a great night! We can not wait till Saturday...more pictures to come!

Riding in Style with Uncle Jason...

So Jax and I went to FL last week (on Wednesday Sept. 30) to visit my mom(MiMi). Well on the Monday before we got there she was admitted to the hospital with chest pains and shortness of breath, doctors thought she was having heart problems again. Thank God she is fine and all the test came back normal, but at the last minute my brother drove up from Fort Lauderdale to visit and check on mom. So he picked Jax and I up from the airport. Well my brother owns a limo company and came straight from a job. So he picked us up in the limo. It was hilarious! I was so embarrassed, but at the same time I had a blast with Jason. We hardly ever spend time together without kids running around everywhere. So it was nice to just have a conversation with my big brother. We HATED each other growing up and he was relentless in his teasing but now we are very close and I love it! Anyway, Jax sure made himself comfortable and was sleeping with in minutes of leaving the airport.

When we moved to this house it was for more space. More adult space, more space for Jax and more space in general to spread out. Well Jax has quickly taken over the porch, the living room, 2 rooms upstairs and every night I am taking an arm full of toys out of mine and John's room to put back in his room and/or play room. Well now he thinks he can play in the refrigerator. This where I draw the line...lol!

*Please ignore the ugliest PJ's on the planet he is wearing. He takes his clothes off in the middle of the night including his diaper and once a kid hits size 2t it is hard to find one piece PJ's that zip and that are not flannel or that heavy fleece.

Botanical Gardens

A few weeks ago Jax and I went to the Botanical Gardens. It was beautiful outside and the gardens are so pretty. He loved looking around pointing to all the flowers. He ran around so much he was literally asking to go in the stroller and trying to climb in by himself. He was wore out!

As Jaxon gets older he is becoming more and more fun! We are able to do new things and on this night John and I decided to bake a cake with Jax. He poured all the ingredients, then helped me use the mixer then of course he licked the bowl with me! I handed him a "mixer thing" and he knew exactly what to do (that's my boy). He even went back for more. We were careful in the amount we gave him, but we had so much fun. I love my little family and I could not ask for more!

We have really enjoyed our backyard this summer. We are outside ALL the time, either in the pool, blowing bubbles, painting, or just running round. Jax would live outside if he could it is one of the first things he asks about when he comes down stairs in the morning. He even has figured out how to unlock and open the door. John and I are not "outdoorsy" at all, but we have had so much fun with Jax this summer. It is not over yet...

Quick update on John's back...He is doing great. Everyday there seems to be new range of motion and less pain. He is able to do things that he has not been able to do for years. He was able to go the science center with Jax and I for the first time on Saturday, he was not able to walk that much before. The actual incision is healing nicely and we are just over all so grateful for the doctors and nurses at Brookwood Hospital! John's back surgery was one of the best decisions we have ever made. We have our life back.

So in our playroom the walls were bare. We wanted some thing in there that was colorful and reflexed Jaxon. So John had some canvases at work and he thought Jax should paint one of them and we can hang it up in there. So that is what we did.

The weekend of Jax's Birthday Party John's best friend Derek and his wife Jennifer and their 2 kids came for a visit. We were so excited. It was great to hang out with "old" friends and I am sure even at time strange for Derek and John to see their kids playing together and even taking baths together. Jax loved Derek's little girl. She on the other was not so sure, telling him at one point, "you are gross, don't touch me." She was so funny. He was a persistent little guy in trying to get any attention he could from her. Jax also was enamored with their older son. He loved watching him play and trying to copy him, he tried so hard to keep up. We loved having the house full of friends and children running around.

Garrett News...

It has been a rough week here at the Garrett house. John has been having sever back pain over the past 8 weeks. He has had a "bad" for about 4 years but never like this. He had an MRI 2 weeks ago and it said he had a bulging disc. So Our primary care Dr sent us to a back specialist. We were all kinda of confused because the severity of the pain was not matching the MRI results. John's appointment was on Wednesday and when the back specialist put his MRI films up on the "light thing" his face was reflected complete shock. He asked John how is it that you are even walking? How much pain meds do you have in you? Which was and is a lot! John has completely ruptured and herniated discs in his back and the gel from his discs are oozing on to the nerves. The doctor also told John he has lost 3/5 of the muscle mass in his left ankle/foot that they will not be able to get back. His was also told that him the MRI place was negligent in reading (if they even read them) the MRI because it is very obvious that is much more sever then a bulging disc. He should have had surgery in the first few days following the MRI. The doctor is now out town and we have to wait more so the doctor has John doing one more test nest week to check the extent of the damage of the nerves and discs. Then there is a 90% chance he will have back surgery to remove those discs in 1 1/2 week.

On a happy note Jaxon's party is tomorrow and we are very excited. It is a Caillou party which is his favorite character right now. Caillou was the first character he has formed an attchment too. He gets very excited when it comes on TV or if he sees Caillou somewhere. It has not been easy finding Caillou stuff. I had to go on ebay to find all the party stuff and thank God we have a great bakery here called Edgar's who is hand drawing Caillou on the cake. So I will post lots of pictures. Here is the video of Jaxon's card that we made and sent into PBS Sprout and they put it on TV. Sorry it is a little blurry I had the dang camera on the wrong setting.

My Baby is 2!!

Our sweet little boy is 2 today. I don't know where the time went. These have been the most amazing 2 years of our lives. Jaxon is truly the love of our lives and will always be our greatest accomplishment. We are so lucky and blessed to have in our lives.

We did a low key Birthday Celebration tonight at home. We let Jax open one of his presents and we had cup cakes. Saturday is the "big" party. We spent this past weekend in FL with my mom so we are having the party a week late. I will post pictures on that trip later.

This is Jax doing his "swim test." He did so good! He passed with flying colors. These lessons have given us such peace of mind. However they did make VERY comfortable with the water, so it is a good thing he knows what to do if he falls in the pool. On this particular day we went to the family I am a nanny for to swim. He was walking the pool and every so often he would sit on the edge of the pool and dip his feet in. I was in the shallow end watching him do this. He made it down to the deep end of the pool sat down to put his feet in. Well he got a "wild hair up his but" and "jumped" in, while I was at the other end of the pool. I started swimming like a mad women to the other end of the pool and when I got to him he was floating on his back laughing. So we already got our moneys worth. Not to mention we will be in FL next and my mom lives on the water and we will also be at my aunts and she has a pool. So I am so grateful he knows what to do if he falls in or in his case jumps in. If your child is ever around a pool I highly recommend these lessons, they are amazing!!!

Pizza Shop...

Last week we took Jax and Caroline (the little girl I take care of) to the pizza shop down the street. We had a blast. The kids were so good. As Jaxon gets older he is becoming more fun. He has the silliest personality, he is strong willed and stubborn yet so sweet and love to cuddle. He loves to make mommy and daddy laugh and he does it so well. He is our world he is just the most amazing little boy we feel so lucky that he is our son.

On a side note Jax is talking a lot more. He is trying to repeat EVERYTHING. His new favorite phrase is "stinky or stinky poop." When he poops he runs over to me and tells me, "stinky poop." He also says this when he passes gas. He is so funny and such a boy!!

We got a lawn mower and John ventured out on Monday to start it then finished it yesterday. He did such a great job! Jax was not so sure at first but yesterday John and I went out and bought him his own mower that blows bubbles he loves it! While John was mowing the lawn Jax was also mowing. He would not go near John, he is still not so sure, so he stayed close to me on the porch and "mowed" around there.

John found out our yard is bigger then we thought.

So my mom was here over the weekend and it was so great to see her. We usually see each other about every 6-8 weeks however it had been 4 months. I was so excited for her to see Jax he is changing so much and so fast. He finally says MiMi well kinda he says "e e" but she loved it anyway. We went shopping as usual, we went to the science center and we went out to eat a few times. It was just so great to have her here. I was dying to show her our new house and of course she loved it.

Today was our first Saturday in the new house that we weren't moving. We had a great family morning. We were going to go to the pool but it was to cold. So Jax and I went to Wal-Mart and bought a hose. We hooked it up to the kiddie pool and it turns it into like sprinkler. Jax loved it. John got out there and threw the ball with him and stuck his head in the sprinkler with him. I felt like we have not been able to spend a lot of time with Jax with the move and getting settled so it was so nice to just focus on him and play it really was one of the best mornings ever!

Jax started swim lesson on Monday. It is called Infant Swim Resource. They teach water survival and they teach the child what to do if they fall in the water. Jax is learning a swim float swim sequence. The first 3 lessons he cried the whole time but he still did everything he was to do. He just cried while doing it. However today he came out of his shell. He was playing, talking, and did so great. He floated all by himself for 10 seconds. He is really starting to learn and it has only been 4 lessons. I love seeing him learning new things. Caroline the little girl I take care of is also doing them. She is almost 7 months and she is so cute in the water.

We moved and we are all settled in. We love it! It has been a lot of work but worth it. I don't know how we got so lucky to have this gorgeous house. Here are some pictures of the down stairs. I didn't really take of the 4 bedrooms upstairs yet. I will take pictures of Jax's room when he wakes up.

We had a busy morning! We played on the balcony for almost 2 hours. We did bubbles and "painted" with water then we played in the kiddie pool. Jax and Caroline had so much fun! I used one of Jax's swim diapers on Caroline it was a little big but it did the job. She loved splashing and she even liked it when Jax gently splashed her. I did have to keep telling Jax "gentle" but he did great. Jax wanted to throw everything and I do mean everything in the pool. I caught him throwing in towels, blankets, toys and while I was feeing Caroline he did manage to throw his toy guitar in the pool. I had to run and get it out and it is draining now and it seems to be working fine. He is such a water kid. He starts infant and toddler survival swim lessons on June 1st with Caroline. I will feel so much better about him being around water after those lessons. We had so much fun this morning and they were both exhausted and so ready for a nap and that is what they are both doing right now.

Random pictures. Things are crazy right now. We are moving to our new house May 30th, Jax starts swim lessons on June 1st, I am working, John's schedule has been very busy to say the least. We can't wait to get in the new house and settle down to a new routine. Also I have been a slacker with the camera not to mention Jax will literally tell me No! and run away when he sees the camera. So this is all I got right now!

So the other night Jax and I made pudding. He helped me pour in the milk and the powder then he helped stir it. He did so good. Then we waited till after dinner and we ate it. He LOVED it! He kept telling me "mmmmmm" and rubbing his tummy. Here are some pictures of our little project.

Things have been VERY busy here lately. We have had a few huge events this past month. We got a house. It is in a neighborhood called Belvedere Cove. The house is 4 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, it is 2 stories, with formal dinning and den/office area. We are so excited and have started moving already. It has been tricky trying to move with a almost 2 year old. I have no one to help watch him while John is at work so we are trying to make it happen slowly. It will be a lot to move but I am so excited to start.

I had a little health scare last week. I went numb on my left side and lost some vision in my left eye and got a really bad headache. I went and had a MRI and everything was normal. I went and saw a neurologist on Thursday and I have what is called "complicated migraines" and the symptoms manifest themselves like a minor stroke. I have some medicine to take when I think I am getting headache and then when I have one. No big deal!

Today is Mother's day and it was a great day. We went to a art show, then shopping for house stuff. Then we were going to try and go to lunch but we got stuck in a "monsoon" and John got soaked getting the SUV for Jax and I. So we went home and had lunch and put Jax to bed and then laid around all afternoon. It was great! Any ways here are some pictures of the new house.

Jax's Uncle Jason and Aunt Nicole and his cousins Jason and Kaylee gave Jax this 4 wheeler for Christmas. Well Jax loves it!! He is still trying to figure out how to push the button to make go but he will soon have it going on his own. He does however pull it, push it, and drag it all the apartment. He also "fixes" it. He is growing so fast. It makes me so sad. John keeps telling me to enjoy each phase and I am trying so hard to, it is just hard when I miss holding my tiny baby.

Yesterday was HOT! So I let Jax play with water on the balcony. I got a big bowl of water, a cup and a paint brush. He had so much fun. We also got out the chalk. By the time he was done he was naked, just his diaper. He was so dirty and soaked, but he had fun!

Jax and I played with bubbles today. I don't know why I haven't done this more. He loved it. This is only like the 3rd time we have played with bubbles and the first time in almost a year. I just haven't thought about it. Now I am ready to go buy all this bubble stuff. Definitely something that blows the bubbles for you. I was so light headed. I love doing things with him. He is so much fun!

Well Easter at the Garrett house was nice and quite. John got up with Jax and I slept in. Then John made pancakes for Jax and I. Jax opened his Easter Basket. The Easter Bunny put a DVD, sidewalk chalk, a few small balls and bubbles in his basket. Then we played with with his new sidewalk chalk on the balcony. Then we just hung out at home. It was perfect!

The Science Center

This was the last activity I have to post, about Sara's visit. On Monday we took Jax to the Science Center. This was the second time Jax has been there. The first time was about 4 months ago but he was to little to enjoy it. He had so much fun this time! He played at the water table, he dug for fossils, he played with the giant light bright, he played with trains and cars, he was so busy the whole time. It was great. I can't wait to take him with John.

Easter Eggs

On Sara's last night here we colored Easter Eggs. We kept saying they were for Jax but once Jax went to bed and we were still coloring eggs we had admit it was really for us. We did some camo eggs to show we were thinking about Mike. We also did some foil eggs. It was so much fun!

Sara and I took Jax to the Zoo on Saturday. We had so much fun. We saw tons of animals. Jax still I think was a little young to really enjoy and recognize the animals. He loved the petting zoo. He loved being able to pet them and touch them. There were also these fountains and a "bubble pool" but it was a little chilly outside and Jax was getting over a cold so he couldn't play in it. He would have loved it! We also fed the giraffes. Jax had a huge tantrum the whole time we were waiting in line and the first part of the time we were getting ready to fed them. He scared them a away. The zoo keeper had to get them to come back. It was neat to fed them. Their tongue's were HUGE and slimy. Jax's face was price less when saw them eating from my hand. Over all it was a great outing.

We went to the park and grilled out last night. Jax LOVES the park! This was the first time Uncle Tony and Aunt Sara came to this particular park with him. He had so much fun running around, climbing and playing on the swings.

It's Super Jax!!! Aunt Sara bought him the cutest PJ's. We love them and he looks so cute in them!

We are having a great time with Sara. We wish Mike could have come too but we are really enjoying our time with her. He has had a cold and has been a little fussy but over all he is loving all the attention from Sara. We went to the mall yesterday and walked around. Then that afternoon Jerilyn came up and hung out and spent the night. We stayed up till 2 am talking. It is so great having friend here to talk to. Tonight we went on a picnic at the park. Tony and Mike came with us and we grilled hamburgers and hot dogs and Jax played with Sara and Tony on the playground. I love how many people love him! He is a special boy.

So about a week and half ago Jax and I went to the botanical gardens and had a picnic lunch. It was a beautiful day. However Jax was less then cooperative. He would have nothing to do with me taking his picture. It was so frustrating. I did take a picture of these huge fish in the lake. Over all it was a great outing! Sara Hassoldt gets here next week and we are so excited. Jax is going love spending time with his godmother. We wish Mike was coming too, but we will send him lots of pictures!

So we will have lots of pictures next week. For now this is all I have.

Story Time...

Every Wednesday Jax and I go to the library for story time. The man the does it, is Mr. Mac. He plays the guitar and sings, the kids play with puppets, and he reads stories. It is really cute. Jax hardly sits still the whole time we are there. He runs around and every so often what Mr. Mac is doing will catch his eye and he will sit and listen. Jax does love the puppets though. Today however he kept trying to take everyone else's puppet. I had to run after to make sure he wasn't successful in his attempts to be a thief. lol! But he really enjoys going and he gets some interaction with other kids.

Jax has started to have favorite tv shows and favorite characters. He loves Caillou, Elmo and Little Einstein's. He asks for them and gets upset when they are not on. He calls Elmo, mo and Caillou, iou. It is so funny. We have Elmo and Little Einstein's dvd's but we had to order Caillou dvd's and they are not here yet. But he gets so excited when they come on. He dances to the theme songs and claps. He has even started doing some of the motions to the songs, especially on Little Einstein's. Here is a picture of him watching Caillou in his high chair. He had just finished eating dinner and he was so relaxed.

So today we took advantage of the gorgeous weather and went to the park. I found it about month ago and it is great! It has 3 huge play areas, nature trails, swings, a little creek, and picnic tables. We had a great time. It started out a little rough. We walked probably about a mile in circles looking for some where to sit, while Jax was sleeping and I was carrying him, because John had all our bags and other junk. He is not a tiny boy anymore. Once we finally found some where to sit, that happen to be on the other side of the park and by this time Jax woke and thought we were leaving and started freaking out. So we ate and then we played. Over all it was great. I am so glad it is getting warm again and we are going to take full advantage of it so we can be as active with him as we can. He is such a fun kid and I am having so much fun being his mom.

Today has been amazing. It is my 25th Birthday and it really has been great. John took the morning off and let me sleep in. Then we went out to breakfast and took Jax to the park. John had to go to work around lunch time, so Jax and I had lunch on the balcony on his little table and chairs. It was so nice being able to go outside and enjoy the fresh air. I was so sick of being inside and I was really out of ideas on ways to entertain him. I was having to resort to Elmo way to much. But here are some pictures of Jax having his little picnic. He loved it. He is such an out doors kid. I can't wait for spring and Summer to really let him play out side and swim.

Let it Snow, Let it Snow!

So it is actually snowing and a lot! Well a lot for Alabama. We took Jax out but we could not stay out long it was really windy and Jax still has a little bit of a cold. We may try again later when hopefully it is not as windy. He really loved it. He was knocking the snow off the bushes and trying to pick it up. He cried when we made him go inside. I hope the wind dies down so we go out again.

Jax and I went to FL this past weekend for my mom's 50th birthday. It was a blast. Jax and I flew in on Thursday (and she knew we were coming but she didn't know my brother Jason was coming.) Thursday we took Jax to a park at the beach it was only the second time he had been on beach sand. At first he was not sure but after a few minutes touching it and after tasting it he loved it and loved playing in it. Then we took her out to eat on Friday night while we were there my brother and his family came to the house and decorated and set out a cake it was great. We think she was really surprised, I guess we will never truly know. On Saturday we went out in the boat. It was a little chili but it was fun. Jax loves being outside so anything outside is where he wants to be. He discovered shrimp in the bait bucket. He was pulling them out and throwing them over bored. To bad they were already dead or they would have gotten a second chance at life. Well he had so much fun with his cousins and he is finally to the age where he actually plays and is silly. It was a great trip. It was short but good!

So I keep a little girl during the week. She is 3 months old and so I got out all of Jax's new born things like his swing, bebe pod seat, jumperoo ect. We also took out his infant car seat so we are not always passing a car seat back and forth and I can keep the base in the car so it is easy to take in and out. Well Jax saw his infant car seat on the floor the other day and tried to climb in it. He is HUGE in it. He was so funny trying to make himself fit in it. He is so silly!

Jaxon loves going to the park. He would live there if I would let him. He is a big time dare devil to. He loves the slide and climbing on everything. There is a park behind John's office building so we go there a lot and some times John gets to come down and play with us. I can't wait till summer and get him to the pool. I have already started getting his summer clothes. I love the change of seasons and getting to buy a whole new set of clothes for him and he is getting so big he is in 2t shirts. I can't believe my baby is that big!

So tonight we took Jaxon to get ice cream at Brewsters. We gave him his own bowl and spoon and let him go to town. He loved it. He was so funny. His first bite he didn't realize it was going to be cold and he took a huge bite and made the funniest face. He is such an amazing little boy.
